Our Community Life

 Community Life:

God moves in mysterious ways. He plants his footsteps in the sea and rides upon the storm’. He has no set formula on how he calls his children to join Him in His work.

The personal story of each of member of the Asha Kiran community is a testimony to this fact. The Asha Kiran Society community in Lamtaput has been living and working together since 1990 which consists of families and singles. Each member strives to contribute to add quality into the community life. Living as a community has always been challenging, since some of us come from various backgrounds and different professions. Living together as a community has never been a walk in the park. God has given us this special privilege in His school of 'inter-personal relationship' to grow together spiritually as a family. We are grown as a community comprising approximately 110 individuals.

We believe God has placed us in His community to work together and as well live together to give the 'Ray of Hope' to those that come into our lives and hear about us. As members of Asha Kiran, we also cultivate the tradition of doing things together such as getting together to worship in a common place everyday and studying the Scriptures together. We do have plenty of fun such as picnic, potlucks and participating in an assortment of games and sports activities. We also organise talent and sports events for children and adults of any age, once a year, 'SRAMDHAN' is also a community event organised where all staff members come together and clean the campus and its surrounding places. 'DRISHPATO' is also another event organised to learn new topics from one another as well as from visitors who can bring added resource and knowledge to the community.

Over the years, many families and individuals have faced and endured many challenges in their lives. In their ups and downs, we stood as a community with each one of them to bring the 'Ray of Hope' into their lives. In that, we provide continuous support in their journey by encouraging dialog conversations and making personal visits to their homes and villages where the staff members are stationed to work at. The community input has given opportunity for many to start new chapters in their lives and at the same time, given hope to fine tune the rough edges surrounding them.

People do move on and are replaced by new faces. We miss the people who moved to various parts of the world and we hope and pray they may continue to give the 'Ray of Hope' wherever they are placed. We cherish the glorious movements we lived together even though we miss them. Yet our journey continues .........

Brother/sister let me be your servant
Let me be as Christ to you
Pray that I might have the grace
To let you be my servant too

We are pilgrims on a journey
We are brothers and sisters on the road
We are here to help each other
Walk the mile and bear the road

"Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls."

St. Mathew 11:28
